Davutoglu to visit Athens

Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos told Parliament on Tuesday that his Turkish counterpart, Ahmet Davutoglu (photo), was expected to visit Athens soon, adding that a bilateral cooperation council would convene in early October.

Avramopoulos said Athens expected Ankara to revoke its declaration that Greece exercising its right to extend its territorial waters to 12 nautical miles would constitute a ?casus belli? or cause for war.

?There are no gray zones as far as we are concerned,? he said.

Referring to the northern region of Thrace, which has a large Muslim population, Avramopoulos condemned the operation of ?parastate organizations? without elaborating.
