Police protest outside coalition parties’ HQ
Police unionists were on Thursday protesting outside the headquarters of the three political parties involved in Greece’s coalition government, New Democracy, PASOK and Democratic Left, Skai reported.
An unknown number of riot police were deployed to intervene if necessary, the report said.
Police are protesting anticipated cuts to their salaries and benefits.
Tens of thousands of Greeks marched through central Athens on Wednesday in the first general strike since the conservative-led coalition was formed in June, as the prime minister and finance minister hammered out a package of 11.5 billion euros in spending cuts demanded by the troika of foreign lenders.
