Neo Faliro-Piraeus tram extension on the way

The contract for the extension of the tramline from Neo Faliro in southern Athens to the port of Piraeus is due to be signed in a few days, Kathimerini understands, so work on the project can being in January.

It is estimated that it will take just over two years to complete the 5.4-kilometer extension.

Twelve new tram stops will be built, 1,200 trees will be planted, and several areas of greenery will be created along the extension, which is slated to cost 50 million euros.

It is estimated that the Neo Faliro-Piraeus service, which will cover the distance in eight minutes, will be used by 35,000 passengers daily.
