University completes council vote
Efforts to elect a governing council at Athens University proved successful on Thursday after academics finally managed to vote despite the efforts of some student groups and staff to prevent the elections.
In results announced by the university, almost 80 percent of 1,897 academics took part of the electronic ballot, which was held after protests twice prevented an actual vote taking place. Some students also switched off the university’s servers on Monday in a bid to halt the ballot.
