Prosecutor appeals court decision to free consul attackers
A public prosecutor in Thessaloniki has appealed a court’s decision last week to clear three civil servants who threw water and coffee at the city’s German consul.
A judge released the three men, two municipal employees and a teacher, citing the frustration Greeks have felt at the way their country has been portrayed since the crisis began.
Prosecutor Ioanna Katsi argues that the decision was wrong and that the three should be tried for disturbing the peace and using violence.
