Attica governor threatens to quit over waste plant action
Attica Governor Yiannis Sgouros has threatened to resign over concerns about waste management in Athens.
Tenders for four waste management centers in Attica were recently approved but opponents launched legal action to stop them, while the municipal workers’ union accused Sgouros of failing to consult them over the projects.
The governor called on Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and his government to step in and support his initiative.
