One suspect in Marfin arson attack granted conditional release
One of two suspects facing murder charges in a case involving heavy rioting in Athens in 2010 was granted conditional release by an investigative magistrate on Friday. Three bank employees died following an arson attack on a Marfin Egnatia Bank branch during a protest rally in central Athens on May 5, 2010.
The 32-year-old male is facing charges for his involvement in an attack on the Ianos bookstore, which had preceded the attack on Marfin on the day.
The two men were summoned to testify following an extensive police investigation which focused on photographs taken at the time of the attack and witness acounts.
The second suspect, who was linked to the Marfin attack, was expected to conclude his testimony on Friday afternoon.
