Estonia’s Markko Martin drives his Ford Focus at the Pavliani special stage during the first day of the 50th Acropolis rally yesterday. Despite having to drive blind for part of the race later in the day after his bonnet flew up and cracked his windscreen, Martin finished first with a 4.8-second lead over the Peugeot of Harri Rovenpera.
