Greek tourism minister displeased by Swedish ad disparaging Crete

Tourism Minister Olga Kefaloyianni on Wednesday expressed “surprise” and “displeasure” over an advertisement for a theme park in the Swedish city of Gothenburg which depicts a crying boy next to a slogan that reads “Some children are forced to go to Crete in summer.”

Commenting during an official visit to Stockholm, the Cretan minister described the advertisement as “an unfortunate private campaign which is in bad taste,” noting that thousands of Swedes visit Greece for their vacations.

Kefaloyiannis said she had contacted the Greek Embassy in Stockholm over the campaign.
