Police break up fresh mine protest in northern Greece

Police used tear gas and stun grenades in the Skouries forest in Halkidiki on Friday to disperse protesters who had gathered to prevent Hellenic Gold opening up a road to the gold mine that locals and environmentalists have attempted to close.

Police said the protesters split into small groups and threw Molotov cocktails, rocks and flares.

Authorities did not announce any arrests.
