NGOs lash out at health minister over comments
Health Minister Andreas Lykourentzos incurred the wrath of nongovernmental organizations operating in the mental health sector by suggesting that some of them were not doing their job properly and were soaking up public funds but not paying their employees so they could pressure the government into handing over more money.
The Argo NGO responded by saying Lykourentzos was making the claims to “cover up his own shortcomings and the lack of serious political and scientific planning in the mental health sector.”
