Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras on Thursday criticized proponents of Greece’s exit from the euro area saying that such move would have thrown the debt-hit country into Egypt-style turmoil.
“We would now be like Egypt, if we had gone bankrupt and left the euro as some people wished, Stournaras said.
Egypt’s army on Wednesday ousted President Mohamed Mursi, the country’s first democratically elected civilian leader, and suspended the constitution in a move it said was aimed at restoring stability.
