Pair tied to terror group remanded in custody

Two men, both aged 30, suspected of being members of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire urban guerrilla group were remanded in custody on Wednesday.

The pair, who were arrested in Thessaloniki over the weekend, have refuted the charges brought against them including participating in a criminal organization, attempted manslaughter and being in possession of explosives.

Police had arrested one of the suspects after finding his fingerprints on a discarded handwritten declaration claiming responsibility for a booby-trapped envelope sent to the former head of the country’s anti-terrorism unit.
