Tsochatzopoulos asks for more time to prepare testimony

Former Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos asked to be given until September 2 before he is called to give evidence in his money laundering trial. His lawyer argued that the case file is so large, the former PASOK veteran needs more time to prepare.

The prosecutor, however, argued there is no legal basis for Tsochatzopoulos’s request and said his examination has to be completed by July 29.

On Friday in court, the father of Tsochatzopoulos’s wife, Viki Stamati, who is also on trial, insisted his daughter was a “simple girl” and not interested in having a luxurious lifestyle.

Residents of her father’s village also described her as being down to earth.
