Composer Nikos Mamangakis dies
Greek composer Nikos Mamangakakis died of cancer on Wednesday. He was 84.
Born in Rethymno, Crete, in 1929, the composer studied at the Athens Music Conservatory beforing moving to Germany where he furthered his music education under masters such as Carl Orff.
Besides working on orchestral works, Mamangakis became known for his theater and film scores as well as his opera compositions.
