Man, 40, to be charged with starting Rhodes fire through negligence

A 40-year-old man is due to face a prosecutor on Rhodes on Monday after being arrested in connection with a wildfire on the Dodecanese island.

The man, who was not named, is accused of negligence and provoking a fire in the area of Istrios. The fire burned some 3,000 hectares of forest land. Six water bombing planes and some 250 firefighters attempted to put out the blaze, which was on the wane on Monday.
