Nikos Fotopoulos steps down as PPC union chief
Nikos Fotopoulos, the prominent leader of the Public Power Corporation’s hardline workers’ union GENOP, officially announced he was stepping down from his position at the labor group on Monday.
Fotopoulos will remain as the workers’ representative on PPC’s board but a new GENOP chief will be elected in the next few days.
Fotopoulos said he would continue to oppose the government’s plans to privatize PPC units, adding that he would ask to be transferred to one of those facilities before it is sold off.
