Businessman shot by intruder in southern Athens home
A 61-year-old businessman is being treated for serious gunshot injuries sustained when he intercepted an intruder at his Vouliagmeni home on the southern coast of Athens in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to police reports, the assailant jumped the fence of the Vouliagmeni property and shot through a window at around 4.30 a.m. on Tuesday. When the 61-year-old owner of the home appeared to investigate the commotion, the intruder is said to have shot him several times in the legs and head.
Investigators believe that robbery was not the motive of the attack and are exploring the possibility that it was fueled by personal differences.
The personal details of the businessman were not immediately made public.
