Public Television (DT) to air first news bulletin Thursday

Interim state broadcaster Public Television (DT) will on Thursday air its first news bulletin, deputy Culture Minister Pantelis Kapsis has said in an interview.

Speaking to Ant1 television on Thursday, Kapsis, who is responsible for Greece’s state broadcaster, also said the next step will be the launch of a radio program.

Meanwhile, former journalists at defunct public broadcaster ERT continue their sit-in protest at the headquarters of the former national television and radio network in the suburb of Aghia Paraskevi, northern Athens.

On Saturday, the former ERT journalists slammed Kapsis for trying to justify the “illegal abolition” of the broadcaster by using “as an alibi” the two-month contracts signed by a number of their colleagues and other ERT staffers hired to work at an interim network before the establishment of a new public broadcaster, NERIT.
