Attack on home of gov’t spokesman’s brother foiled, newspaper targeted

Government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou said a group of unidentified men attempted to attack his brother’s house in Athens, which has been targeted before by arsonists.

Kedikoglou said on Friday morning that police had prevented the attack from taking place but did not make any arrests.

On Thursday night, a group of around 20 people wearing motorcycle helmets and hoods attacked the offices of Proto Thema newspaper.

The weekly sparked controversy on Sunday when it published on its front page a picture of 34-year-old rapper Pavlos Fyssas shortly before he died from stab wounds inflicted by a Golden Dawn member.

The assailants damaged the entrance to the newspaper’s offices. There were no injuries or arrests.
