FinMin says negotiations with troika ‘tough’ but continuing

Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras told reporters on Friday that there was no deadlock in the government’s talks with the troika but that negotiations were tough.

“The negotiations are difficult but they are continuing as normal,» he told reporters outside the Maximos Mansion after sitting in on a meeting with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and other cabinet officials on the progress of efforts to streamline the Greek civil service, in line with troika demands.

However in an apparent dig at the troika, who are reportedly seeking another 2 billion euros in austerity measures for next year, Stournaras said «we cannot accept opinions which seem to undervalue the efforts of the Greek people and the improvement of all economic indicators.”
