No doctors to be fired from EOPYY, minister says

Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis has reportedly denied reports that 1,200 doctors who work for Greece’s main healthcare provide, EOPYY, will be fired.

Georgiadis met with the head of the Athens Medical Association, Giorgos Patoulis, on Monday to clarify his intentions.

Patoulis said after the meeting that Georgiadis assured him that no doctors would be sacked. Georgiadis also apparently assured Patoulis that doctors who are owed money by EOPYY would receive their outstanding wages by the end of the year.
