Papoulias, Samaras congratulate team after Greece qualifies for World Cup
Greek President Karolos Papoulias and Prime Minister Antonis Samaras have congratulated the country’s national soccer team after the latter qualified for the World Cup finals late on Tuesday.
Papoulias noted that the team’s “great success” had made “all Greeks feel truly proud,” while premier Samaras also praised Greece’s efforts and wished the team plenty of success in Brazil next year.
Greece beat Romania 4-2 on aggregate at the qualifying playoffs securing its third ever spot at the World Cup finals.
