One man dies in Tempe crash; wife and daughters in critical condition

A 45-year-old man died and his wife and two daughters were in critical condition on Tuesday after their car crashed into a truck on the national highway near the Vale of Tempe in central Greece on Monday night.

According to police reports, the 45-year-old driver, who was traveling toward Thessaloniki in northern Greece with his family, tried to overtake a KTEL Intercity Bus on a dangerous stretch of the highway near the old toll post outside Tempe when he crashed into an oncoming truck in the southbound lane.

The 45-year-old driver of the car was killed in the crash. His wife and two daughters were in critical condition on Tuesday.

The truck also slammed into the KTEL bus as it swerved to avoid the car, injuring the bus driver and several passengers.
