TV presenter and former publisher Petros Kostopoulos faces tax trial
Mega TV presenter and former publisher Petros Kostopoulos is due to appear in court on Wednesday after being arrested over alleged debts of 350,000 euros to the state.
Kostopoulos went to police headquarters of his own accord on Tuesday morning and was taken into custody. He refuses to recognize 150,000 euros of the debt and argues this is the subject of an ongoing court case. He also claims he intended to arrange a payment plan for the remaining debt.
The presenter says he has made efforts to pay off the debts of his bankrupt publishing firm, IMAKO, which stood at 6.5 million euros in early 2012. Kostopoulos is said to have sold off two properties and a radio station he owned to pay his creditors.
