Chios philharmonic conductor kills himself
The 45-year-old conductor of the philharmonic orchestra of the island of Chios shot himself in the head yesterday, according to local reports.
The conductor, identified as Stergios Neamonitakis, took his life in the basement of the city hall building where the orchestra held its practice sessions, according to the reports.
A municipal employee and relatives of the conductor alerted the authorities after the man locked himself in the basement and refused to answer his cell phone but they found him dead after breaking down the door.
