Illegal brothels thriving in parts of Athens, gov’t admits

Illegal brothels are thriving in the streets between Victoria Square and Fylis Street in central Athens, according to a written document submitted by Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias to Parliament on Thursday in response to questions about the problem by three lawmakers of leftist SYRIZA.

Inspections on 10 brothels in the area between October and November indicated that most of the establishments had reopened illegally after being closed by authorities and led to a total of 59 arrests on a total of 100 criminal charges.
