Alter TV owners, MD go on trial in Athens over nonpayment of taxes
Giorgos and Andreas Kouris, the father and son who owned Alter TV station, went on trial in Athens on Thursday, along with the channel’s managing director, Costas Giannikos, over an alleged failure to pay payroll tax before Alter went out of business.
The case was adjourned until June, with the defendants arguing that the state’s assessment of what the channel owed was wrong as Alter’s employees had been on strike for most of 2011.
