London court grants conditional release to couple linked to Hellenic Postbank scandal

Businessman Kyriakos Griveas and his wife Anastasia Vatsika, who are both being sought in connection with the Hellenic Postbank (TT) corruption scandal, were granted conditional release by a court in London on Wednesday following their arrest in Manchester, northern England, on an international arrest warrant.

The couple are alleged to have taken two loans worth 17 million euros from TT, without giving the required guarantees. They each posted 50,000 pounds sterling in bail and were ordered not to leave the country ahead of a scheduled reappearance in the same court on February 5.

Judicial officials have gained access to bank accounts held by the couple in England, Cyprus and Switzerland.
