Rail operator eyes revenue from rent of retail spaces

Fixed-rail operator STASY is hoping to drum up some revenue by renting out commercial properties at Athens metro stations, some of which are being put up for lease for the third and even fourth time in the hopes of finding a bidder.

STASY has made several attempts in the past to rent store areas inside and above the metro stations it operates, slashing rental rates significantly to make the locations more attractive.

The company has its eye on renting out all 13 spaces at the Aghios Antonios station in particular. If it succeeds, it will generate revenues above 100,000 euros a year.
