Man shot in Korydallos was suspected of GD killings

A 31-year-old man who was shot dead in a Mafia-style execution at a restaurant in Korydallos, near Piraeus, early Wednesday had been on a list of suspects linked to the murder last November of two members of neofascist Golden Dawn in Neo Iraklio, north of Athens, police sources said.

The unnamed 31-year-old was killed by a gunman who walked into the restaurant where the victim had been eating and shot him twice, once in the head and once in the body, before fleeing.

According to police, the victim was probed in connection with the murder of Giorgos Fountoulis and Manolis Kapelonis but no incriminating evidence was found. Police suspect the 31-year-old was the victim of a contract killing.
