Teens to fight cyberbullying

A program for curbing online bullying among schoolchildren, which has seen success in other European countries, is to be rolled out in Greece, starting with a pilot program in Piraeus.

The program is to be run by the Center for the Welfare of the Family and the Child, a Greek nonprofit organization, in cooperation with London-based NGO BeatBullying and with the backing of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation charity.

In the first phase it will focus on 10 schools in Piraeus, with up to 20 pupils aged between 11 and 17 from each school to be trained as “Internet mentors” so they can advise peers who have been threatened online.
