Police launch probe into ‘racist’ attack on Greek Armenian
Police have launched an investigation into the beating of a Greek of Armenian descent who claims to have been set upon last Saturday in Mandra, western Attica, by a group of around 20 assailants who, he alleges, were led by a man who ran as a would-be regional councilor in the May local and regional authority elections.
In comments to Sto Kokkino radio, the victim said his assailants ambushed him and claimed that the motive was racist.
“The only reason [they attacked me] is because I’m of Armenian descent,” he said.
