Kasidiaris-Kanelli hearing postponed to December 12
An Athens court on Thursday postponed the trial of Golden Dawn’s Ilias Kasidiaris over charges of attempted grievous bodily harm to December 12. The postponement was due to industrial action called by court secretaries.
The case centered on charges brought against Kasidiaris by Greek Communist Party (KKE) deputy Liana Kanelli, following a televised brawl on June 2012.
The incident occurred during a live morning show on Antenna television, when Kasidiaris threw a glass of water at SYRIZA’s Rena Dourou, currently Attica governor, before slapping Kanelli, over a disagreement regarding oil reserves south of Crete.
Kasidiaris is currently in pre-trial custody at Korydallos Prison in connection with another case, a large scale investigation on the activities of the ultra nationalist party.
