No damage, injuries as tremors hit Crete and Peloponnese
An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale shook the southern island of Crete early on Saturday.
According to the Institute of Geodynamics in Athens, the 1.20 a.m. tremor’s epicenter was located under the seabed south of Crete, 445 kilometers southeast of Athens.
Meanwhile, a different quake rattled the area of Dimitsana in the Peloponnese at 3 a.m. on Saturday.
The quake had an epicenter 150 kilometers southwest of Athens.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
Greece lies in a highly seismically active part of the Mediterranean, but most quakes cause no damage or injuries.
