Greek FinMin proposes ban on TV phone-in quizzes

Acting on a proposal by Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis, the Hellenic Gaming Commission on Tuesday called for a ban on TV phone-in quizzes “in order to protect the public and in particular minors and vulnerable social groups.”

The commission cited an extract from European legislation restricting the airing of such games according to which unchecked activity in the sector could have a detrimental impact on consumers, both in terms of the money they spend on them and the risk of addiction.
