Patra teacher cuts wrists in front of students

A teacher who allegedly attempted to slash his wrists in front of his students at a high school in Patra, western Greece, was ordered not to return to the premises on Friday by the regional director for education, Giorgos Panayiotopoulos.

Students had reported on Thursday that their math teacher began slashing at his wrists with a paper cutter after two students he had ordered to leave the classroom for insubordination refused.

An investigation is under way.
