Nikos Dendias appointed defense minister
Former Public Order Minister and current Development Minister Nikos Dendias (photo) was appointed on Friday to replace Dimitris Avramopoulos as Greece’s defense minister, as the latter heads to Brussels to take up the portfolio of European Commissioner for Migration and Home Affairs.
Dendias was appointed after Prime Minister Antonis Samaras decided not to hold a cabinet reshuffle in order to fill the spot.
He will be replaced at the Development Ministry by Costas Skrekas, a civil engineer and New Democracy MP for Trikala.
