Showers, thunderstorms to sweep into country from northwest

Strong showers and thunderstorms are expected to sweep into northwestern Greece on Tuesday night, spreading to Thrace, the northern and eastern Aegean, and the islands of the Dodecanese on Wednesday, the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS) said on Tuesday.

Athens is not expected to experience any strong showers.

The northern Ionian, Epirus and the western mainland, however, should brace for powerful winds and downpours on Wednesday, while the wet front will spread to the western Peloponnese and through to the eastern Aegean later in the day.

By Thursday, the autumnal weather is expected to be limited to the islands of the eastern and southern Aegean.
