Two charged after Greek police find 20 kg of heroin on bus
Two Albanian nationals, aged 41 and 43, faced an Athens prosecutor on Thursday on drug-trafficking charges after a police inspection of a tourist coach near the border crossing at Krystallopigi on Tuesday turned up more than 20 kilograms of heroin.
The drugs were hidden in packages that had been inserted in the air ducts of the vehicle’s air conditioning system, according to police sources.
The inspection, which took place while the coach was en route to Tirana from Istanbul, was part of a broader campaign to curb the trafficking of drugs between Turkey and Albania via Greece.
