Tsipras to meet Davutoglu at Athens airport on Saturday

Leftist SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras is to meet with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Saturday at around 3 p.m. at Athens International Airport the conclusion of the premier’s two-day visit to Greece, it emerged on Friday.

Davutoglu arrived in Athens on Friday afternoon and was to hold talks with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Deputy Premier Evangelos Venizelos before joining a meeting of Greek and Turkish entrepreneurs at the Hilton Hotel. On Saturday the two premiers are to co-chair the third Greek-Turkish High-Level Cooperation Council and are expected to renew bilateral agreements in several sectors.

The Turkish premier’s visit is being closely watched amid a burgeoning energy row in the eastern Mediterranean as the Turkish seismic vessel Barbaros has been in Cyprus’s Exclusive Economic Zone since the end of October.
