Author Koumandareas was strangled to death, coroner finds

Acclaimed Greek author Menis Koumandareas was strangled to death, a post-mortem examination has found.

Koumandareas was found murdered at his apartment in the Kypseli neighborhood of Athens early on Saturday. There were no signs of forced entry at the property.

A coroner said that Koumantareas had struggled with his killer and bore bruising in his stomach and on his head.

The writer had published his 24th novel this year. His funeral will take place on Tuesday.
