Two women arrested for drugging, robbing elderly men
Two Roma women were arrested in central Athens on Thursday for allegedly drugging elderly men so they could rob them.
According to police, the women responded to lonely hearts ads placed by their victims, arranged to meet the men at their homes and then slipped sleep-inducing drugs into their drinks.
While the men were asleep, the two suspects stole cash, jewelry, bank booklets, mobile phones and other items.
Some of their victims had to be taken to the hospital after consuming the drugs.
The two suspects are alleged to have carried out eight robberies using this method over the last three months.
