Man killed in Attiki Odos explosion spent 4 years in jail
The 35-year-old Albanian man who was killed when a bomb blew up his car on Monday morning as he was driving his girlfriend to Athens International Airport had recently spent four years in jail for people and drug trafficking, police said on Tuesday.
The unnamed man was in Larissa Prison between 2004 and 2008.
Officers searched the man’s apartment in the southern suburb of Aghios Dimitrios and found three handguns, 103 shotgun cartridges and a hand grenade.
According to police, the man claimed that he was a nightclub bouncer in order to cover for his illegal activities.
