German Hellenic Business Association offers to pay for PISA

The German Hellenic Business Association (DHW) on Friday offered to pay the 15,000 euros needed for Greece to take part in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) tests for evaluating education systems, known as PISA.

The government said this week that it is not willing to spend the money needed for Greek pupils to be assessed, prompting DHW to say that it would provide the cash if the coalition’s decision was prompted by fiscal concerns rather than political choices.

“We should use research like this to improve our education system, which is one of the useful tools we have left,” DHW member Lambis Tasakos told Kathimerini.
