Three employees at the Athens Water and Sewage Company (EYDAP) in Maroussi, northern Athens, have been arrested on suspicion of taking advantage of an armed robbery at their workplace to steal funds.
Two of the employees, a 46-year-old man and 60-year-old woman, were on duty on March 2 when an armed man forced staff at the office to open the safe and hand over cash.
Police said that video footage revealed the two workers also took some cash during the confusion.
The next day, they are alleged to have given some of the money to a 48-year-old employee who was off work on the day of the robbery.
Police said they recovered 15,000 euros in cash from the suspects’ homes.
