Body believed to be that of missing student found near Pamvotida Lake
The decomposed body of a young man was discovered early on Sunday by a couple walking in the area of Katsika near Pamvotida Lake in Ioannina, northwestern Greece. The body was believed to be that of missing student Vangelis Giakoumakis, reported missing on February 6.
Giakoumakis, 20, was enrolled at the city’s Dairy School. He was last seen walking into Ioannina city center, while his phone and wallet were found in his dormitory room after he disappeared.
During the ensuing investigation it emerged that he may have been a victim of bullying carried out by fellow students.
A coroner was expected to carry out a post-mortem examination.
