Body of missing student identified
The decomposed body of a young man discovered on Sunday near Pamvotida Lake in Ioannina, northwestern Greece, has been identified as that of 20-year-old missing student Vangelis Giamoumakis.
The body was discovered by a couple walking in the area of Katsika and identified by a family member later in the day.
Giakoumakis was reported in missing on February 6. He was enrolled at the city’s Dairy School and was last seen walking into Ioannina city center. His phone and wallet were found in his dormitory room after he disappeared.
During the ensuing investigation it emerged that he may have been a victim of bullying carried out by fellow students.
Results from a post-mortem examination were expected on Monday.
