Anarchists refuse to vacate Athens Law School premises

Self-styled anarchists conducting a sit-in for the sixth consecutive day at the Athens University Law School in the city center, on Wednesday refused to evacuate the premises despite a no-arrests order issued by Interior Ministry Nikos Voutsis, Kathimerini understands.

According to Kathimerini, Voutsis asked police officers to refrain from taking action in view of the anarchists exiting the premises quietly.

Sources told Kathimerini the anarchists were given two options in order to evacuate the building. They refused and asked for a lawyer to represent them.

The anarchists are demanding the release of November 17 member Savvas Xeros and several relatives of members of Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire, who are being held on charges of being accomplices to the latter’s crimes, as well as the scrapping of maximum-security prisons and anti-terrorism laws.
