Vitsentzos Kornaros passenger ferry finally on its way

The Vitsentzos Kornaros passenger ferry, which had run aground near the port of Kasos last Wednesday, left the southeastern Aegean island’s port in the early hours of Saturday after another vessel helped to free it late on Friday.

The Kornaros, which was carrying 227 passengers, had been en route from the port of Piraeus to the Dodecanese island of Rhodes, with seven stops in between.

The ferry then sailed to Rhodes, where it was due to undergo inspections and repair works.
